Our SEM-SAFE® system is based on high-pressure water mist, which is an excellent fire extinguishing technology for a wide range of commercial and industrial applications, e.g. high-rise buildings, hospitals, hotels, heritage buildings, car factories and especially for data centres.
The SEM-SAFE® high-pressure water mist system is modular and consists of a high-pressure pump unit, section valves and nozzles. Our high-pressure water mist system and our production facilities in Denmark are approved by internationally recognised authorities such as VdS and FM.
For ensuring optimum fire safety in data centres, we have a complete nozzle portfolio tested according to FM Class 5560, which can protect areas above and below floor in data centres, including an approved design for “double tier” cable trays. Our protection concept is not only limited to the whitespace area, but can cover the entire data centre building, e.g. corridors, generator rooms, transformer rooms, battery rooms, office areas, archives, car parks and so on. The SEM-SAFE® system will activate locally in areas where the fire has been detected. The advantage with high-pressure water mist technology is that it allows you to keep ventilation running.
High-pressure water mist consists of very small droplets. Each droplet expands more than 1,700 times when it comes close to the combustible material by means of evaporation. Increasingly, the combustion process will be deprived of oxygen. Water mist droplets have a large surface area relative to their mass, and during their slow descent they absorb much more heat energy. A greater amount of water will follow the saturation line and evaporate, meaning that water mist absorbs much more energy from the surroundings and thus from the fire itself.
