Steen Hommel
Invest in Denmark

Steen Hommel is Director of the national Danish investment promotion agency, Invest in Denmark. As part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, Invest in Denmark is a one-stop service for foreign companies looking to set up a business in Denmark.
Working with green data centres as a strategic focus area, Invest in Denmark has succeeded in attracting a.o. Apple (two sites), Facebook (one site) and Google (two sites), DigiPlex and Bulk Infrastructure. By end of 2019, a number of subsea fiber cables will go ashore in Denmark. They provide additional very high data transmission capacity between Denmark and the US, the UK/Ireland and the Netherlands. Combined with the presence of the hyperscale operators in Denmark, this has spurred much awareness regarding opportunities in Denmark among European and global IX, colocation and cloud service providers.

Steen Hommel holds a MA in Business from Copenhagen University and in 1998 he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark. Within the foreign service, Steen Hommel has managed the financing of development projects in North Africa and Asia, served as deputy to the Danish Embassy Kuala Lumpur and headed the department for customer relations in The Trade Council. From 2012-2016, he was the Danish Ambassador to Poland, before he in 2016 took over the position as Director of Invest in Denmark.
