Edge Global Congress
November 6, 2019
As data is generated at ever more exponential rates, and globally moves us towards the age of Yottabyte, so compute processing power disperses across enterprise, and cloud resources...
For this edition of CLOUDS AHEAD Datacloud spoke to Mark Bidinger, President, Cloud & Service Providers segment, Schneider Electric
Datacloud: What do you see as the future drivers for the industry?
This is an exciting time to be in the data center industry. We’re seeing increasing demand for processing at the edge which will only continue. Cloud computing is growing at a pace of more than 16% annually, IoT applications, AI, machine learning, video streaming all are booming demand. As driverless cars proliferate and homes and offices get smarter every day, the demand for edge data centers – including colocation and cloud services will continue grow.
Datacloud: What regions within Europe do you see as primed for IT asset expansion?
Europe is a hotbed of activity as we see many of our customers expand their footprint through new build and acquisition, crossing borders. We are seeing growth across Europe and have evolved and expanded our teams leveraging our global capabilities to meet the demand. Last year at our International Colocation Club event we dug into some of the emerging markets with research presented by CBRE including Milan, Madrid and the Nordics as markets to keep an eye on.
Datacloud: What is one of your goals for the next year and how do you expect to achieve it?
The customer has always been our guiding light – in developing our solutions, evolving our organization and this year, while we will continue that work its my goal to ensure our customers have a truly collaborative business partner in Schneider Electric. We are devoted to securing the business success of our customers in this rapidly evolving, competitive market – through future-proofed innovation, thought-leading industry expertise and an understanding of their customer demands and pressures. We will continue to deliver this value through EcoStruxure, our IoT-enabled, open architecture, tailored to cloud and service providers looking to build faster, manage costs to maximize profits and mitigate risk to ensure customer satisfaction. As our customers continue to expand into emerging marketing we are committed to evolving our organization to ensure our customers meet their growth objectives.
Datacloud: How can our sector help to improve society?
At Schneider we believe that access to safe, reliable energy is an inalienable right and it’s our commitment that we will ensure life is on everywhere for everyone. But energy alone is not enough – in today’s age people also need access to their digital life. Data centers are the foundation of the digital economy, thus we all in the data center industry play a critical role in securing the future. In this new digital era, we see a world that is always-on. Always on to meet the needs of the highest notion of “access” to goods and services. Always on to be the solid, reliable foundation of digital transformation for businesses.
