For this edition of CLOUDS AHEAD Datacloud spoke to Geraint Davies, Global Director, Datacenter Business at Eltek
Datacloud: What do you see as the future drivers for the industry?
There is a Silent Revolution going on as the world moves to Hyperscale, Open and Blockchain computing and Service Providers extend Cloud offerings through CORD and the EDGE to an IoT of SMART Things. The market will boom on an exponential scale over the next decade and resources will be stretched to cope across the world.
Datacloud: What regions within Europe do you see as primed for IT asset expansion?
The whole world is changing and really Africa and Latin America will change most whilst Asia continues its relentless modernisation. The EU and USA economies have most invested, most to change, most to lose and for those that adapt, perhaps, most to gain…but change comes hard and there is hesitation in Western Economies. We need to push on and forward if Europe is to keep up, let alone continue to lead.
Datacloud: What is one of your goals for the next year and how do you expect to achieve it?
We have many customers to help through their individual transformations. Our goal is to help them understand the scale of change and how to work alongside each other to plan, adapt and cope better together. We have to establish who has the capability to change and to succeed in this next generation – then how best to help.
Datacloud: How can our sector help to improve society?
Our sector enables all business and government and most social interaction. We have a responsibility to widen accessibility and fuel global economic expansion but with ethics that respect individual privacy and differences. By opening doors to many opportunities to so many people we make money but acquire responsibility for our behaviour and how we influence others. It is no longer enough to invent technology and stand back pretending we cannot prevent excess. We can do whatever we choose to do.
Geraint Davies will be at the Datacloud Europe 2018 congress in Monaco June 12-14th. Meet them there
