Edge Global Congress
November 6, 2019
As data is generated at ever more exponential rates, and globally moves us towards the age of Yottabyte, so compute processing power disperses across enterprise, and cloud resources...
For this edition, Datacloud spoke to Frederic Bouchez Director of Innovation & Marketing at Etix Everywhere.
Datacloud: What do you see for the future of the industry?
Data centers, Cloud and ICT in general, will become invisible and effortless: we envision fully automated and even self-healing and self-repairing infrastructures and software.
To achieve that, the industry will mainly rely on artificial intelligence (AI) as well as reconfigurable components and equipment. At Etix Everywhere we are already implementing those solutions to develop lights-out data centers.
Datacloud: What is the biggest opportunity in the industry today?
For data center operators like us, the increasing competition on housing prices on developed markets and major hubs forces actors to explore the edge of the network as well as developing regions, such as Africa, Latin America and the Middle East. Etix Everywhere anticipated those opportunities and invested since its early days in these regions.
Those growth drivers (edge and developing countries) are also coming along with new technical and financial challenges: lower demand at day one, greater investments, scarcity of competencies, harsher environment, greater instability, more elusive profitability, etc.
Tackling those will enable the winning companies to experience a solid and continued growth, being able to answer fast-growing edge needs.
Datacloud: What's one of your goals for the next year and how do you expect to achieve it?
Having that vision of automated data centers in mind, we will implement in our data center network the latest mind-blowing hardware and software products our internal R&D lab developed, and will start selling some of those products to the market.
This product-oriented strategy will accompany the continuous expansion of our international network of colocation data centers in new locations in the Americas, Europe, Africa and the Middle East, densifying our local presence.
Datacloud: What do you think matters most in the development of the industry and its effect on business and society?
Location, location, location. This real estate mantra is now more than ever valid, for data center operators as well as for Cloud operators. Creating interconnected ecosystems in fast-developing cities, away from traditional core markets, is key to ensure better end-user experience. And it’s a fantastic opportunity to create new local digital ecosystems that will drive growth, generate local wealth and provide more secure and reliable cloud economy.
Etix Everywhere will be at the Datacloud Europe 2017 congress in Monaco June 6-8th. Meet them there
